Hi all, Im Tony. Years ago I had a 2.5PI and my cousin had a Sprint. I always loved the Sprint and 2 weeks ago I bought one
.
I intended to keep it as a rolling resto as it was taxed and mot'd, but alas 3 days later it packed up.
Long story short:
The bolt holding the jackshaft sprocket was loose and it sheared the dowel pin, causing lack of ignition timing.
After realising the jackshaft doesnt easily clear the engine block in situ I decided to remove the engine. (some have said that it is possible to remove in situ by jacking up the engine, but after seeing some suspect mechanic work along the way of stripping of the front end I decided I would go deeper and make sure)
Sooo.. yesterday I removed engine and box and today Ive stripped it to a bare block.
Clutch knackered (need one if anyone has one in their way 10 spline
Big ends and mains starting to show copper, (need some if anyone has any in their way
Payen head gasket set needed and lower end gaskets and seals (again need some... ah you get the idea
Clutch pipe- It was seized at the master cylinder end so now its twisted off- Is there an alternative or the correct one still available?.
So my short time of joy turned into grief sooner than anticipated. It was great to drive for the 3 days I had though and am looking forward to getting it back on the road soon.
Ive been lurking for a few weeks on here and seems a nice place, I will join up too and maybe see the parts in the club stock, I may need most of them
I have a list of wants other than the basic engine rebuild parts like fast road cam (a 91?) and if all goes well later I'd like to add twin 45's so I'll be lurking in the sales section mainly.
Well sorry about the long winded short post lol.
Cheers
Tony
