Joining the fold

#1 Post by Fester »

Hi All,
I have great memories of travelling around with my dad in his 1850 when I was a kid and have reached a point where I have decided I need one back in my life, so I have registered here and will be joining the club once i have found my dolly too.
I'm not very well off so I realise whatever I can afford is going to need some love and I am planning to go the rolling resto route.
Just wanted to say hi really, I read that there was a "branch" of the club in Shropshire and I'm just over the border in Powys so that will be nice for meets etc too.

Hi and welcome to the madhouse! As Shropshire AO and living in the extreme SE corner of the county, I am embarrassed to say that not much happens in the way of local meets, though the TSSC has a couple of monthly meets we can piggyback onto, one in Telford and one (which may suit you better) near Oswestry. Good luck with your search for a Dolomite there are still some decent ones out there for sensible money and if you have any questions, ask away! you will be hard put to find a friendlier or more knowledgeable bunch than the folks on here!

Hello,
thanks for the welcome, do I know the carledo username from elsewhere? I think I might. Oswestry is a little closer for me than telford and avoids the newly ruined shrewsbury bypass so would probably be my meet of choice to be honest.
I have been reading the forum as a guest for a while and thought I should just register so I could take more of a part in things, there is a lot I have learned already about the different models etc and what seem to be common problems so I am going in better armed now.
I have a P100 I need to re-mot and sell on before I have fund to start looking in earnest for my dolomite but keeping a weather eye out already.

I use the Carledo handle on Retro Rides forum as well and I am also on the Dolomite and Toledo facebook pages under my real name, Steve Boitoult, but a lot of folk on there also know me by the handle which comes from my car, A 2 door Toledo with a Vauxhall Carlton engine hence CARLton + toLEDO = CARLEDO!
