Can anyone help me with a rough value for a 1980 auto white dolomite sprint with every receipt since new and 53k documented miles and only 1 owner, would roughly be worth, sat for 13 yrs after old man died and has now been recomissioned by triumph specialts and has been MOT'd. no sign of rust.

This time last year a similar original car (Manual rather than Auto so maybe more sought after) sold for 10K. The car had all original paint & was in very good unrestored condition.

Without seeing the car it really is impossible to value, so the above is a guide to what a genuine car can fetch.

That was a year ago & there seems to be more interest in the Sprint than ever & more people looking, whether that has pushed up values who knows.

That's what I was thinking, is the Auto more collectible than manual ones.

It would depend on who the 'Triumph Specialists' were and what work was done.

Despite being considerably rarer (less than 50 surviving autos, according to howmanyleft.com) Auto Sprint values are a bit behind their manual counterparts. About 20% behind if I was forced to put a number on it. Probably because of the percieved contradiction of putting a slush box in a car with the Sprint's sporty image!

Not that I care personally, as I own 1.5 Sprint autos (More than 3% of all survivors  ) and keep track of them for the club. To which end, if you can furnish any details of this car, (reg, comm number etc) i'd be grateful, I may not already have details if the car has only recently resurfaced.

On values, I doubt anyone here would commit without seeing the car "in the tin", but if it's as good as painted in your description and with a sound history, it should be good for £8-10k.

The car appears good, I've not viewed it myself, it's being viewed for me by a friend. I must clarify though that the recomissioning was only to get an MOT on it and not smarten it up - it does have some surface rust which has only just been noticed in the photos, the car does appear genuine with the huge history file I've mentioned, ziebart is everywhere, needs cleaning in a lot of places including treating the vinyl roof, new tyres where fitted but alloys in bad shape - spare never used - you can message me if you want info for the club and to help me with a value before I commit to anything, 07774 149888

As already said very difficult to say without viewing the car.
The Sprint Tony Burd is referring to was a Pageant Blue 23k from new and really was in lovely conditon no rust, immaculate interior and all its original features, it had been kept under a cover in a dry garage for many years by it's elderly owner.
I found a picture taken a few months after its discovery. The owner kept it for one year and sold it for 10k which was a bit of a surprise at the time, but not now.

She looks nice - this one will need tidying up so not in the same league. Was left for 13 years in dry storage but is a genuine 53k and cared for in its day.

I'm on the Isle of Lewis in the far North West of Scotland, the car is in the heart of London. I had someone check it out on Tuesday night for me and he said it was a good honest and genuine car - it's had 3 owners and not 1, the registering garage, the old man and the son, so in the same family from new hence advertised as 1 owner.

I've been looking at the one on HGF website and trying to gauge where this one would sit in value in comparison to that one which is £9,995 and appears top show condition.

This one needs money spent on it to get up to a stage you could show it, wheels refurbishing, some painting, Ziebart removed and repainted, and weeks of cleaning.

With tidying and work to do which might end up as a full respray (depending on how perfectionist you are) and bearing in mind the pros and cons I would be looking to pay between £4.5k and £5k to buy it.

Pros:- Good history, MOT'd, Ziebarted (might be a pain but it DOES preserve cars) low miles, original unmolested car.

Cons:- Auto, White, been stood still for a long time, so will need lots of niggles fixing as use discloses them, will be a BIG shipping bill to get it home! Plus there is ALWAYS more work than you think, but that applies to any classic car!
