I went to this at the old venue at Prescott Hillclimb last year and had a great time with lots of teriffic cars present (not ALL of which were Triumphs) and several runs up the hill for sensible money.
This year they have moved to Shelsey Walsh, almost in my backyard, so I am definitely going! If anyone else would like to come and join the fun and games and perhaps create a small TDC presence, drop me a PM for more details. Your car does not need to be outrageously modifed to turn up here, just old and loved!

Steve

And me again. I might take the Sprint this year as last years choice of vehicle wasn't suited to the hill!

Nowhere near me but I could be up for this. Can you actually get up the hill or is it just reserved for guest cars ?

Anyone can go up the hill, you need your car docs and a helmet but thats about it! Last year it was £30 per session (1 morning and 1 afternoon) and you could get in as many runs as the queue allowed, I got 6 runs in the morning by almost continuous queueing, then parked the car up and had an impromptu barbie with Stu and a leisurely afternoon looking round the carparks and paddocks and watching others attack the hill, including a 1000+ BHP Audi Quattro and a Can-Am Chapparal!

Me going up the hill!

I'm really looking forward to Shelsey, which is a lot more open than Prescott, more of a power hill! Prescott just didn't suit my choice of gear ratios but I still had a great time welding the pedal to the metal and kicking the tail out!

Steve

EDIT Correction, you don't even need a helmet, in fact i'm pretty sure they didn't even make me wear my seatbelt!

Been doing a bit of checking up and Shelsey rules are a bit stricter than Prescott.

At sign on you MUST show current MOT cert, certificate of insurance and taxdisc or you won't be running!
Helmets are MANDATORY though an ordinary motorcycle helmet is acceptable, it doesn't have to be FIA standard.
Seatbelts must be worn.
No more than one passenger at a time, who must also be helmeted and belted. Note that there MAY be a lower age limit for passengers, this is not yet finalised but is likely to be 15.

Track time is to be paid for on the day, at the moment there is no way to book it in advance.

I for one intend to get there VERY early, the queues for sign in at Prescott last year were monumental!

Steve

PS I have just organised a club stand area and will be getting a dozen passes for the showfield so if you want one, please PM me with your address and I'll get one out to you, first come, first served i'm afraid.
This does not get you out of paying, which is £10 per person on the day or £7.50 if bought in advance.

PPS Gates open for club stand attendees at 8am but i'll probably be queueing before that!

That's put a different perspective on it considering I am about 2 hrs away. Leaving at 05:30 is not quite so appealing.
Once you have queued do you get more than one run do you know Steve ?

I think Steve had at least 3 or 4 runs in the morning session last year. Once you had paid, they got you round as many times as possible.

No guarantees that this will be what happens this year though.

Last year, I arrived at Prescott about 9.15 am with the rest of the ordinary public, queued for about half an hour to get in, then queued again for nearly an hour for sign in! It was horribly tedious but I still got half a dozen runs up the hill in the morning session which made it worthwhile and more than returned the smile to my face!
I intend to get there myself at about 7.30 (its less than 20 miles for me) on the basis that if there's queueing to be done , I want to be at the front! Also, since i'm sort of organising the TDC effort, it behooves me to get there first!
Shelsey works a little differently to Prescott, in that Shelsey has no return road which means that you are stuck at the top of the hill while up to 30 other cars come up, then you all go down in convoy (slowly)and the process starts again. This may have a bearing on how many runs can be got in in a session by any individual but I will be a bit ticked off if I don't get 3 or 4.
There is also, as always, the possibility that some moron will hold up proceedings by marrying his pride and joy to the scenery. Apparently, this is more likely in the afternoon session when folk have had time to get cocky. At Prescott they dealt with these incidents promptly and efficiently. Shelsey is more difficult logistically and the possibilty of a spectacular off is greater but I don't expect their marshalls and crews to be any less professional.
As the fine print always says "motorsport is dangerous"

Steve

EDIT, the bit about being stuck at the top is not as bad as it sounds, your granny in her Skoda (or Philip Glenister in a T seies MG) could get up Shelsey in just over 1 minute, a good time is around 40 seconds, so cars will be starting at about 30 second intervals meaning the wait at the top will only be a max of 15 mins.

Ok the club passes have arrived and discounting those already booked I have 9 left!
These will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, if you are coming and want one please PM me with your home address and i'll get it posted out to you since I intend to spend the early part of the morning queueing for the hill not standing at the gates handing out passes! (Mike, yours is already en route)
Stu is bringing some club banners and regalia to mark our presence, gates open for those with club passes at 8am rather than the 9am for the general public which should benefit those looking for track time!

Once again, if you wish to run the hill, you will need your car's MOT, Tax disc and certificate of insurance, plus a crash helmet!

See you all there!

Steve

WIMP!
Turns out I popped my head gasket in the queue to get in last year! I still had several runs at the hill and thrashed it home!
PM me your address if you want a club pass!
