My beautiful original 1974 Triumph Toledo 4-door is up for sale. French Blue with a grey interior. It has done under 36,000 miles. I have owned this car for 8 years and put very few miles on it.
Mechanically, it drives perfectly. The previous owner was fastidious and replaced anything that was slightly worn out. The brakes have been completely overhauled and a stainless steel exhaust has been fitted. He also changed the speedometer, as the original didn't show the correct speed. Consequently the speedo reads less than 6000 miles. I have the original speedo showing 29745 miles.
Interior. The carpets are a little faded, but otherwise the interior is almost like new. There is a small mark on the front passenger seat. It has recoil seatbelts fitted front and rear.
The car was originally registered by the dealer, Mann Egerton, presumably as a demonstrator and has a radio fitted, but not wired in. There is a Mann Egerton sticker on the back window.
Bodywork. What lets the car down is its paintwork, which is completely flat. This could be polished out to a degree to improve it, but really the car needs to be re-painted. There are two or three areas of surface rust, but otherwise the bodywork is immaculate. It would be easy to sort these areas of rust, but left as they are you can see how insignificant they are. The previous owner had the near-side chassis leg replaced. The battery sits on this, and when the original owner gave up driving the car was left unused for a few years. Battery acid had caused the chassis leg to rust. This is the only welding that the car has had and the local garage were very impressed with the condition of the car. The car has had rust-proofing wax injected into the sills, doors and other box sections.
There is loads of history with the car, from the original bill of sale, service passbook, MOTs, receipts, Heritage certificate and club magazine articles about the car.
I really don't want to sell this car. It is such a lovely car, but I have promised my wife I will reduce my Triumph fleet! If it doesn't sell I will happily keep it in the barn I rent (actually would she ever know?)
The car is located in East Lothian, south east Scotland. I bought it from Weston-super-Mare and drove it home, so no complaints about it being too far away!!
I am looking for £2,500 or very close offer.
