Dolomite Sprint upholstery kits

Can anybody advise me if there is a supplier of Triumph Dolomite Sprint black upholstery kits that are for sale or does anybody have a new kit that they don't require and are prepared to sell. It would have to be able to be shipped to Canberra ACT Australia. Thank you Geoff

The material is obsolete I'm afraid, most folk rely on obtaining good second hand.

What bits do you need?

Sorry to tag along with Geoff's post, but Im after a passenger side seat base if after Geoff is sorted anyone else has a good Black corduroy base (just the cover, the foam is fine).

I don't think the actual cloth bit is handed.

I have a front seat base and a RH front seat back in re-useable condition. The base might need new vinyl sewing in as there is a cut on both sides; one is to accommodate around the recliner mechanism, but I'm not sure if the one on the other side will be concealed or not...happy to get shipping prices.

Alternatively, the big saloons had slightly wider seats and some used the same cloth; material can be scavenged from them if you have a good upholsterer.

What is the actual material though, brushed nylon? Edit: Googled it, the actual material is corded brushed nylon.

I've seen some say 'Bri-Nylon' but as that was just originally a trademark of British Nylon Spinners Ltd and used on all forms of nylon fabric made by them, shirts and tights to terry cotton nylon speedo's - which has to win an award for the most random collection of words since I had one too many sherries and head butted my keyboard...

The evidence, a completely non-sexist advertisement from 1973 and an earlier (50's?) one for tights.

Sorry, I could not help myself.

In this part of the world back then it was the done thing to put a lambskin over the seats. Who would want to sit on Bri-nylon when the soft luxurious feel of a lambskin was even more inviting. Why even today I have full lambskin underlay under the sheet on the bed. Now that is luxury and I spend a good 8 hours a day lying on it!

Geoff though has asked a very valid question relating to recovering a Dolomite/Sprint in which the black interior needs redoing. I have exactly the same problem to be overcome in the second Sprint sitting here and in another 1850 which also has a black interior. I think the only option I have got is to recover the seats in a black leather which is how all the top of the line 2.5PI Triumphs were kitted out when they were sold here. They had leather facings but vinyl sides and backs.

I shall be interested to read what or how Geoff overcomes his problem. In my case it might be black leather seat coverings and then spread over the top black lambskin covers.

I would probably want to sleep in the car.

I did like the leather seats you had made up Alun, they looked very nice. On the material I did approach Newton Commercial about it as they do have the correct material, or at least one extremely close. They are in the business of making complete products though and weren't even the slightest bit interested in selling me a quantity of material.

Thats good to know Mark, I'll try to contact them about the cost of producing an interior trim kit for the club.

I'm sure there are more than a few rear seats that need covering!

I do like a good comedy thread (ba-dum tshh!) speaking of which I sent my my seamstress friend (seriously) a picture of the seats and she replied back with "why not just use soft corduroy?" I'm hoping that was rhetorical as I actually don't have a reply.
