Finally got round to refurbing a old steering coupling with superflex poly bushes ( part no spf1179k ) , im not sure if i need to use locking wire as the bolts where a very tight fit, if i do need to what do i use ? as i cannot seem to find is locking wire on any of the usual sites, will a old guitar string do or small split pins ? , was quite a pain to fit the bushes with out a vice to hand, all old bolts drilled out and then they unscrewed ok, here is a pic of finished coupling.

I had one on a car recently where the bolts had started to work loose.

I just tightened them back up with an impact driver - they were cross head number 3 IIRC,

If it works loose in this case you get plenty of warning and could retighten with loctite on the threads.

Thank's Jon, i might just use some split pins then as a precaution.

Try some PTFE tape on the threads, it has much the same effect as Loctite.

Mark i dont think im going to disemble it just yet, the bolts took some force to get in with a snap on ratchet screwdriver and no vice to hand, i think i will go with the split pins for now, thanks for the advice

I would use some type of locking device as its a lot easier to do it now then try to tighten them at the roadside when they work loose.

Im going use smalll split pins

I have some RAF-spec locking wire, I could send you a bit if needed....
