Re: Oil pressure
Managed to get the split pin out this evening; it was having the LT77 that made it harder by comparison to access the split pin tags. Disc seal however seemingly tight; I pressume once oil is back in turning the engine over on the ignition should pop it out ok?

Re: Oil pressure
Pressure of spring overnight popped it out naturally
A bit more than a spoonfull of oil came with it though!! Highway maintenance this afternoon then!

Re: Oil pressure
Frustrating afternoon!
Reassembled oil pump with a standard spring, recharged the sump and primed the pump on the starter; eventually managed 25psi. Ran the engine and saw the pressure build...only to then drop off to zero...zip...nothing! Disconnected king lead and tried it on the starter again...nothing. Gauge is known good.
Surely the bearings couldn't have been run to the point where the oil simply p155 out of the side already? Even if this were the case, with the pump and pressure take off being first in line there'd still be pressure??

Re: Oil pressure
Not an official repair methode and don't tell anyone..
Had an 1850 engine once wich had difficulties of sucking oil. This engine had not been running for a looong time.
I was starting with the plugs out and no oil pressure. Then decided to put some air pressure through the dipstick tube and blocked the vent. Starting again and.. oil pressure. Then started the car and was ok since.
Worth wile trying first?

Re: Oil pressure
Only just read this Alun but remember that the oil pump is driven by an 8mm allen key. First check that it is still sound and if yes get yoself one of those leccy drills and using an extension and 5/16 or 8mm socket set the drill to run in reverse (anticlockwise) give the pump some turns, you will feel it stiffen when pump starts oiling, good luck

track action maniac.
