Did the Hammerite come off of that airbox OK? It looked very well coated.

Defo one. It would have come from the factory that way.

Excellent job Mart, just the folding fabric sunroof to fit then....

Two Mirrors, would have left the factory with one, but the N/S was a dealer fit option and the cars look a bit lopsided with one

Went to start PFJ up tonight as it's been a few weeks since I last started it, turned the key............nothing. Ignition & oil light on, fine. Headlights work great, so not the battery then. Tried again, not a sausage. :scratchin:

I thought it must be the starter, which would be strange as it was working fine before. But thought I'd check the wiring under the dash, on the steering column etc., first....nope. So then I thinks ah! I did fit the new gearbox wiring loom (which contains the ballast feed) & if that isn't connected properly it would cause this symptom. So I checked the connector & squidged the terminals a bit to make them a nice tight fit. Still nothing doing. :fuming: So I went to check the connector again, armed with my multimeter to see if there was continuity. Just as I went to unplug the connector I realised the pin-outs were different. The new half of the connector had the 2 thicker ballast wires at the bottom (or top) which is where they should be, but the existing connector had one at the bottom & one in the middle! It then came to me that a PO had messed with the wiring after fitting the non-original o/d gearbox (hence me having to buy the gearbox loom). After switching wires around, it started first time. :D

It's great solving these little problems but stopped me doing what I went to do in the first place. :(

Nice one Mart. Certain amount of satisfaction gained from sorting things like that.
