Dolomite Engine Mounts - ok for FWD?

#1 Post by rhisiart »

Hia there - I wonder if anyone with a parts list can tell me whether standard 'Dolomite' rubber engine mounts will also fit my 1500 FWD 1972. I've just seen some going cheap on Ebay, listing the part number as 'The Triumph / Rover part number is 158016'. Can anyone help?

Many thanks

Engine mount part number is 217046 and gear box mount is 216859

The engine mount is different from the number you quoted, so im guessing not but someone may be able to say other wise if they have fitted Dolly ones to a 1500fwd!!

Without knowing i would opt for the fwd ones only!!

If the mounts you have seen a really cheap you could buy and try, if they dont fit im sure you could flog them on here to get your money back!!

Im sure they are different due to the gearbox being under the engine the engine sits higher, iirc teh 1500fwd mounts are more rounded and the dolly ones are square(ish). the mounting bolts are also in a different location.

Aha! Thanks for that guys ... I think I'll give these a miss this time and try and get the right parts sometime. Appreciated.
