Triumph Car Day at the Ace Cafe 12th June/Bromley Pageant

#1 Post by triumphdolomiteuk »

We've received details of the Triumph Car Day at the Ace Cafe, London on 6th June. An ideal event at which to host a "London Dolly Day" perhaps? We also have details of the Bromley Pageant and have been invited to attend as a club. Anyone interested in organising something?

I happy to organise something for Bromley if there is sufficient interest to get a stand together. A small stand will require three cars. I can supply a nutter Toledo. If we are going to go for it, it would be best to have representation of the other models.

A large stand from memory will accommodate about ten cars - if there is critical mass we could go for this. There are prizes for best club stand - won last year by the Aston Martin Owners Club southe east region.

Bearing in mind we need to book, expressions of interest need to come forward to me or via Andy reasonably pronto.

I'll say it a bit louder I AM HAPPY TO TAKE THIS ON!, so come on folks, lets try and get a stand together.
Martin.

Well volunteered, Martin!
There are two types of club stand; a "special" display for up to 15 cars and a 3-car display for a maximum of three cars. Cost is £5 PER CAR, which gives admission for the driver and one passenger. The show date is Sunday 13th June, see http://www.bromleypageant.co.uk for more details of the event. I'll post the booking forms to Martin - they need to be sent in quickly as space is limited. The Club will support the event by means of providing a banner, membership forms etc, if you need anything else, let us know.

It seems strange that there is a charge to show the cars as it it organised by the same folks who do hamphire pageant and that one is free for show car no matter how many passengers you have!

If you are going to get a larger stand, I am happy to give my car an airing - if the club doesn't mind a very non standard Toledo being on show as part of the 40 year celebrations.

Well done Martin!

An update on this.

I sent off the forms some time ago, and have been in telephone contact with the organisers to the effect that the 15 car major stands were "all taken".

I have therefore booked and paid for a 3 car stand and our entry has been accepted.

Andy,

Any chance we can re-locate this as a dedicated Bromley thread in Meetings and Events please??

I will require Club members with clean examples of cars who can definitely be there on the day to come forward. Please only offer your car if you can realistically turn up, and as importantly, stay the whole day as in my view there is nothing more dispiriting than someone driving their car off of a stand and disappearing at lunchtime.

It would be nice to have three different and clean examples of the cars to show.

There is no guarantee that my Redtop will be on the stand as the engine is being removed in May, and it will be touch and go whether it is ready in time; so I do genuinely need members to come forward.

I will liaise with the Committee reagrding banners/Club material/etc. It would also be good to have some regalia to peddle on the day, as this is the biggest attended one day show in the UK. I will liaise with Jeanette about that element.

Your help guys is appeciated as always.
Martin.

I think a standard Sprint, standard ohv car and a very non-standard car would represent the club nicely,
which counts me out,so how about Howard,Ken R,Martin B,and if the red top is not ready Alolympic toledo?(sort of first come first served)
Any ideas ?

Happy for my Toledo to be 1st reserve in the "Oh, I'm not sure if I approve of what he has done to that" category if the Redtop is off the road.
