Re: Tran-X LSD

I've just spoken to Tran-x and with the 7 folks who have said yes at £600 included (plus maybe Ian?) they can do a 20% definitely and he is confirming with the boss-man whether they can go to 25%. After New Year VAT will add an extra £15 to the price of each unit, and there will be postage costs to think about but since tran-x are based in Coventry there may be something that can be worked out regarding collection by a local member. I would expect them to honour any quote for a little while as I don't suppose business is booming but maybe if everyone who has expressed interest can confirm if we get the price to £610 (with the VAT increase) there may be life in this yet.

Tran-X won't go to 25% for less than 10 LSDs. My brother to his eternal shame  owns a Mk.1 Escort and is looking to drum up some interest in a group buy on their internet sites so things are still moving but we need a few extra people to sign up (from there or here) and we could be good to go.

Stuart,

Can you detail exactly what is included in this price? Fitting into our axle for example?

Cheers,

Any update here? Sorry to be pushy, but my autocross season starts in mid april so will need to order something soon in order to get it here and fitted in time. My current diff is toast so I don't have the option of running the standard one.

Hi Mark,

Sorry but we've not been able to find anyone else interested and so I think it unlikely we'll get to the 25% discount level, which means it's too expensive for most of us. I'll keep looking but if you're on a deadline I would make alternative arrangements.

Cheers,
Stu

Thanks for trying to get this off the ground Stu. I'm going to order one on Monday so I can hopefully get it fitted before the season starts.

Gripper do a LSD for the dolomite sprint, they can do a trade price group buy of ten units at £550 plus VAT each.
Obviously you need to build into this the cost of introducing it into the axle casing, plus any new bearings and sundry items, They recommend coventry transmissions for this if anyone wishes to go down this route.
Also a service of a gripper product is £65 plus VAT which I am told includes parts, however if any major damage is done then you will be further advised.

Sorry all, I had to go ahead and order one so I can get it here in time for the new autocross season. I asked for a discount and they gave me 10% so they should give a group more than that surely.

cheers
