Hi Nathan.
I am available that weekend and am more than happy to help out. Car is available too if required; not an 1850, but happy to do some 'badge engineering' if neccessary!

Re: Cars needed for stoneleigh. (official planning thread)
hello all,
Thanks for all your responses regarding help with the stoneleigh show, we've had so many offers of helpers/cars it will take me a few nights to go though everything, please bare in mind that if you have offered us a car and are travelling from afar the car will need to be with us saturday afternoon or by 8.30am sunday morning!
I will try and respond to everyone by the end of the weekend, if we dont take you up on your offer of help for the sunday, please dont be offended, the tickets allocated to the club are of a limited number (yet to be confirmed) and will be allocated to car drivers first, any surplus will then be given to volunteers!
Alun, your 1300fwd valance is at the farm i beleive and we will be able to bring it up to stoneleigh with us for you!
Martin, i shall send you a pm with my contact number, or its in dolly mixture under cov area rep. Ring any time of the evening! Would really like to have a chat!
So please bare with me chaps, i will try and get back to everyone!
Thanks for now Nathan

Many thanks to all those who have offered cars or to help out on the day - we now have all the cars sorted and I will be confirming the list of helpers over the next few days or so. We now have more volunteers than we need, but even if we can’t take up some of your kind offers to ‘man the stand’ this time, please drop by for a catch-up and a cuppa anyway, it would be good to welcome as many members as possible. I’ll post more details about our stand location when the info comes through from the show organisers. Thanks again chaps for a great response.

Well Done everyone ! The Club stand looked very impressive. Some excellent cars there. Good grief, was it cold and W-E-T ! Never mind I got some useful bits and pieces and had a nice chat with Mart and Alun.
Hello to the Vermillion Dolomite I met on the way in as he was on his way out (for lunch ?)
I think I recognised the car. Might have been Jonners ?
Cheers All,
Tony.

Flash/wave at about 12:30 as we crossed a roundabout in opposite directions? That would be me
'Fraid I was already heading home.
My fingers didn't stop tingling as the feeling came back into them until I was past Gaydon and I was only there 2 hours! How those of you there all day coped I've no idea.
Excellent stand and a nice selection of cars.

Re: Cars needed for stoneleigh. (official planning thread)
Thanks to everybody for their help in building and running the stand today.
The 5 cars on show were new to Stoneleigh, and received very well.
The general response to the stand was very positive, and that was backed by both regalia sales, and new memberships.
So getting cold and wet (inside the hall!) was very worthwhile!

Re: Cars needed for stoneleigh. (official planning thread)
The drive up through torrential rain was grim (and rather longer than usual at 3 hours), but it was great to see so many members and old friends. I know I am biased, but I thought the Club stand was by some margin the best of the Club displays and the arrangement and diversity of cars was great too. It was nice to see two early Dolomites as well - befitting of the 40th anniversary of the model. Lovely to see the MikeyB Sprint again, but the inca yellow 1300 Dolly and the french blue 1500FWD were scorchers as well. Full marks to the Coventry team (again) for coming up with a stand layout that literally "drew you in". Lovely to speak to the three retired chaps who worked in the Triumph Design Department also.
I think it was very possibly the coldest, wettest Stoneleigh that I can remember and visually at least, numbers were definitely down to my eyes. However, we did a brisk trade in regalia, and Alun reported decent turnover on his stand as well; so maybe fewer people spent more money....
On a serious note, the "accommodation" provided by the organisers needs a serious re-think. I personally do not think it is anywhere near good enough to charge Clubs to display cars that have been the subject of no expense spared restorations under continuously leaking roofs. There was a chap on one of the TR stands with a concours red TR5 who was visibly near to tears about the fact that his car, fresh from a massive restoration, was being rained on all day. A bit of heating would not have gone amiss either. These days there is simply no excuse for such things and I do think words need to be had.
My journey there was eclipsed only by the journey back, where a group of numpties crashing in the M1 roadworks made my journey time over 4 hours, and I consequently missed a family event I had been due to show my face at.
Still, it was worth it all for a good day and some great conversations. Well done again to all involved.

Re: Cars needed for stoneleigh. (official planning thread)
Well, WF0929 made the trip from London and back without even thinking about missing a beat - not that it was ever in doubt, of course! A pleasant relaxing drive and I'm sure at least one female passenger of a Mondeo on the M40 must have been in serious danger of sufffering a neck injury as she craned her head around 180 degrees to have a look at the side and front of the car as they went past
A big thanks to Mike, Nathan and everyone else for their help and who, without exception made a long day very enjoyable. It was a great pleasure to show the car on the Club's stand, which as at the NEC looked excellent - a real credit to all involved.
But by jimminy it was COLD, I don't think my hands warmed up all day. This wasn't helped by spending a large part of the day almost constantly mopping up cold water leaking from several places onto the car's roof. Frequent forays to the entrance hall where the only heaters were situated just about made it bearable!
Hope everyone got home safely.
Cheers
Jeff

Re: Cars needed for stoneleigh. (official planning thread)
well despite the extremley cold and wet conditions ,i had a constant drip on my head selling regalia
but despite this regalia sales were up on last year (mind you the extreme cold did force someone to buy a fleece
)might do some gloves for next year lol,The stand looked the best there it was a shame that jeff's early 1850 and a constant downpour on it
as said i do think the organisers need to look into heating and water proofing for the halls ,if they dont i think clubs will start reconsidering whether to take part ,Anyway regardless of the weather we enjoyed the day and as always its nice catching up with everyone
george definatley wasnt bothered by the cold as he kept taking his shoe off and flashing his leg
Welldone to all the Coventry group for arranging etc
