SPRINT TYRE RECOMMENDATIONS.
SPRINT TYRE RECOMMENDATIONS.
I know I have read some info about this on the forum but I can't find it.
I had a set of 4 Yokohama K9776 175/70 R13 82H located at a nearby tyre depot but before I got there they had been sold. And the supplier hasn't got any more!!
My Sprint has two almost new Yokohama S306 175/70s fitted and I plan to keep these as spares. They are only 82T rating though.
I can get them all fitted for £40 so am looking to find some mail order on the web.
Tried the usual suspects, Ebay, E-tyres etc but no 82Hs.
What are your thoughts chaps on the best tyres to get.
Yokohama, Avon, Dunlop, Firestone???
Obviously no Azerbaijan remoulds!!!

Re: SPRINT TYRE RECOMMENDATIONS.
The big question is will 82T be OK or should they really be 82H.
What do you think of these?

Re: SPRINT TYRE RECOMMENDATIONS.
Sprints should be H rated though in reality for normal driving a T rating would be fine as it's 118mph rated, an H being 130mph. The whole rating thing is rather silly now, my BMW for example, just a 116d has got W rated tyres which are good for 168mph. The car is probably good for 120mph at best.

Re: SPRINT TYRE RECOMMENDATIONS.
My Tyres have 13 options including my personal recommendation, Uniroyal RainExpert.
Black circles only have 2 options in H.
I've used both vendors and would recommend either.
Ratings seem even madder when you consider that there's nowhere you can go above 70 in this country. Say 77 for speedo error plus 20% safety margin and you're only at 93. Round it up to a ton (which is instant license loss territory) and in a sane world no one should be required to have more than an R except to go on a track day. Apart from the emergency services of course.

Re: SPRINT TYRE RECOMMENDATIONS.
I had a set of 4 KUMHO Solus KH17 fitted to my 1850 recently in 175/70 13s
Highly recommended as grip was excellent and low road noise.
Were on the car when used at Prescott Hill Climb and coped very well.
I think I paid about £35 each although I buy about 30 tyres a year on my account so likely to have been discounted.
Some here for £32.90 each inc delivery....http://www.mytyres.co.uk/cgi-bin/rshop. ... gn=froogle

Re: SPRINT TYRE RECOMMENDATIONS.
Thanks for the replies, gave me some other links to follow up.
The worry with going T rating rather than H is that I had read of insurance companies refusing to pay out because of incorrect tyres fitted.
Anyway after another few hours on the web I managed to find a set of Yokohama K9776 175/70 R13 82H for £38 each online.
Should be with me tomorrow.
CHEERS!

Re: SPRINT TYRE RECOMMENDATIONS.
Guess bl**dy what.
Just had a phone call from the online supplier saying that the tyres were listed incorrectly and he has now refunded my payment.
The search continues.

Re: SPRINT TYRE RECOMMENDATIONS.
Kumho KH17 were very good, had them on my Acclaim (175/50R15 iirc on 15" Mini Wheels)
I used the Dunlop SP Sport 200 on the Sprint I had, not a massive fan.

Re: SPRINT TYRE RECOMMENDATIONS.
Kumho's are ok and in the wet on a dolomite also. I run on 205 60 13 and have marchalls now. These are "rebadged" kumho's with the same profile, like michelin and kleber. On a customers sprint i did fit 205/60/13 toyo's and they were ok too and even better in the wet than kumho. I now want to try the falken 912. These have to be the ultimate road tyre wet and dry but no experience yet.

Re: SPRINT TYRE RECOMMENDATIONS.
Will 205/60/13s actually fit properly on Sprint wheels? Mine is lowered 1"..
Re: SPRINT TYRE RECOMMENDATIONS.
I rang Yokohama direct at Milton Keynes and asked about H rated tyres.
They have now been discontinued and replaced with the T rating. Quite how that covers the insurance question is a little strange!
They did tell me of a customer who had ordered 20 from them just recently and I rang them.
Anyway I now have four Yokohama K9776 175/70 R13 82H on their way to me at £44 each inc delivery.
They do have a further 7 in stock so if anyone is interested I said I'd pass their details on.

It's in the shell's tolerances. Sometimes you have to roll back the rear arch lip and they do fit on sprint wheels.Dolly-Nut wrote:Will 205/60/13s actually fit properly on Sprint wheels? Mine is lowered 1"..
