This one http://ssa.nls.uk/film.cfm?fid=6699 I found interesting, a rally from 1976. 40 minutes of road and forest stages dominated by Ford Escorts but also has plenty of other entries (some I found suprising).
Factory rally cars from Triumph include 16v TR7 and Dolomite Sprint.
Here are a few shots which I thought would interest people here?
Being from 1976 it has to be a Sprint. You hear it go past behind one of the Drivers being interviewed in amongst all the team cars so I wondering if it is a Triumph Team car (with all the bits).
How about that spectator letting the Ford Team to pull the diff out of his Capri so Ari Vatanen could get on his way eh? That wouldn't happen today for so many, many reasons.
Sprint actually splits it's bodyshell after going 6 feet into the air yet still carries on competing - the stuff that made rallying great.
There are a few black Sprints kicking about, Merlins old one being the main one I remember.
If I can get some PC time at the unit when I'm not busy setting myself on fire with the MIG, I'll be sure to watch.
1978 Twilight Purple Dolomite 1850HL The Lolomite.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses.
Hit it.
The black Sprint that Oli referred to did reside in Scotland for some of its life but it is too new to be the one featured.
There was a black Sprint that tore around Fife (Kirkcaldy?) until the mid 80s when a fire caused its demise. I don't know what registration
year it was. It was known to Doug, the DSR Scottish rep from the 90s.
