The silver Sprint is currently going very well at present in the horsepower department. Really want to dial out the understeer and wondering whether the 20 year Koni shock absorbers and manufactured variable rate springs have had their day. Interested from those who race or do track days in shock absorbers and spring rates. Essentially my Dolomite is just a competition car so road use is not really a concern. Just looking to improve the handling and right at the moment understeer is the predominant characteristic of the car.

You are ideed lucky to have an understeer problem as most have an oversteer one.
I have found that stiff at the front and soft at the rear seems to be the order that I like.
I have also noted that racing Sprints have much thicker front ARB's and removing rear ARB.
Lowering a lot does not seem to work as the geo gets its arse in a sling.
400 lb front springs and 250 rear might be a good start.

Have to agree with Trackerjack above.
Much stiffer front than rear. I currenctly run 640LBS front springs and they are great! Rears would be around the 265-300LBS. Lowered quite a bit.
Spax adjustable seat height shocks all round and a very large front sway bay-rear standard.
However I am looking to replace my Spax and moving across to GAZ adjustables-They seem to get a good rating on this forum, are cheaper and can be repaired-unlike Spax.
These guys camberkits@gmail.com quoted me last year $260 for a 24mm uprated front sway bar.
Obviuosly all rubber bushes have been upgraded with Nolathane.
Handles very well on the track (LSD helps), very neutral. Only my average tyres seem to let it down.

Most Dolly racers also seem to have the front sitting slightly higher than the rear.

Hi Paul,
just another thought , have you adjusted up the koni's? i had some old ones that were showing their age so I took the shockies out , removed the 'bump stop' and they can be "firmed up" by turning the top of the shocky against the bottom half. This seemed to help firm up the front of mine until I could get some new shocks.
I was thinking to place an order through Rimmers soon-ish for some GAz shocks, maybe share the frieght???
