reverse light switch on a automatic

Hi
my reverse lights only come on if i push the lever forward slightly...is the switch adjustable or do i need a new one.....
need to get it through its mot

adam is right (for once

)
the switch end or contacts could have worn ,try moving it slight or packing out the end of the switch with a bit of cardbord.
you could also rewire it by extending the live wire to a dash mounted switch (this must illuminate whilst on)

Sounds more like the linkage between the turret and gearbox needs shortening slightly.
