Bromley Pageant

#1 Post by mbellinger »

I attended this event on Sunday in my Moggie Minor, which was displayed in the 'cars for sale' section of the park.

I have been going to the Pageant for over twenty years and after a couple of dire years, this year the event was back on form. The scorching weather certainly helped (after a couple of years of wash-outs), but the quality and quantity of vehicles generally was also much higher than of late.

There were a few Dolomite shaped cars there (including a smart 1500TC), but on the three occasions that I walked by them no owners were present for a natter.

The sheer variety on display was breathtaking. I made a number of observations:

Aston Martin DB4 GT's are worth whatever they cost and have gone on the bucket list accordingly.
I should not have sold my Renault Spider years ago.
My affection for Rover P4's is undimmed.
Any kind of original Mini in any condition seems to be worth at least £5K now and they sell readily.
MX5 Mk1's are very good value as a fun/track car (any number of clean ones for sale circa a grand).
MG B's are now almost too common (said sadly as an owner).
It is almost impossible to find a nice Mk 1 Stag that has not been dressed up as a Mk 2.
The 60's Reliant Sabre coupe is a very nice all round package.
I must own a Citroen DS at some stage.

I hope anyone from this forum/Club who went enjoyed the day. Peter James (main sponsors) certainly seem to have turned this event around.
Martin.
