I can see the next image is correct but not the one above???

Image

I thought it may go underneath the top mount but there is a welded flat in stopping it....

Image

Or....do the red nylon bushes go on the front damper and both sit on top of the top mount....poking through the damper turret?
any thoughts o'wise ones?
Shaun

The rubber bung sitting inside the spring should not be there - the coil spring must be seated against the shock / body mount plate.

Second picture is correct

Never seen a washer welded on there before - Jon, Martin, Trackerjack & Tony maybe able to explain the reason for the washer

And now the next saga!

Assembled the top and bottom ball joints to the vertical links and torqued them up as advised and now the hub will hardly turn and is very stiff though does turn if slackened off......

Any ideas please?

if everything is built up correctly and torqued correctly then all i can suggest is that it will loosen up with time. what would everyone else say about this?

no i havent built up my subframe yet. way off from being able to do that!

Just how much fun can one have taking 40 years worth of underseal off? Pretty impressed with the lack of rust....pity BL didn't treat the rest of the car so well!

Cage nearly in btw......

Anyhoo, it's been a while so here's a bit of an update!

All 4 doors now have new repair sections and are fitted and the front has had two new inner headlight panels fabricated and the front panel will be fitted along with the bonnet this week.

That should finally see an end to the welding! We then plan to pop it back onto the jig to drown the front inner panels and wings in bondaprimer and finish off painting the floor, before brining it home to prep for the sprayers.

When it was last on the jig, I started spraying some aerosol undercoat on......this is where six cans got me....

Image

Needless to say....back to the trusty paint brush from now on!

Meanwhile.....N/s front......
