You should've marked the nut and counted the turns as you undid it. That way, you can put it back in exactly the same position.

If its done up to the same tightness as before it should go back in the same position. You won't be a whole turn out loose and if you
tightened it up but went a little tighter (10 degrees tops) it will take up the wear.

If anything it's on the loose side so will drop the shaft again and punch mark the nut and shaft and count the threads on the shaft so if it is too loose I can take it up a little.
I wont be using permanent marker to mark things again as the oil removes it.
Hopefully I will make a start on filling the rear wing. I cant start the welding until I earn some more pennies!

Grand work 
Try and get some top coat on that primer before the damp weather arrives as primer absorbs moisture.

New brake shoes and drums today and now have a nice handbrake.
Some topcoat on various body repairs but just a guide to see how the repair is shaping up. Car will be resprayed probably early next year.
Booked in for welding of o/s chassis rail, n/s headlight panel and valance repair at the end of the month.
Remaining chrome has been stripped with the exception of roof gutter trims.

looking good.
Are you using aerosols? I found that with Brooklands green the halfords one was pretty good and gives a decent gloss
on small areas.
With a larger job like this you may do better biting the bullet and getting a spray gun.
However you can still do a reasonable job with rattle cans if you get enough paint on. Dust a coat on first and then go
for a wet look works for me.
Sometimes you do get runs ( inevitable) but chase them down to a lip. As always practise make perfect.
Once hard its amazing what can be achieved with 1500 wet and dry and farecla G7.

Hi Jon
Used rimmers brooklands rattle cans which i will cut and polish to see how the reflection falls in the paint. Its just a guide coat to see if further filler is required. The car will be resprayed professionally next year.
Nice to get fresh paint on it even temporary paint feel like your getting somewhere!

Wish I could take the credit Jon but I got it done by someone who knows what he's doing. Nice to see one less hole!
It remains in his shop for the time being. Both headlamp retainers and valance repairs and two holes in the boot floor, one by each arch which will be done next.
Then I can get the tank back in.
I need to replace the rubber grommet in the wing for the filler neck and was wondering if its the same as a Vitesse one?
Also need to drop the sump on the gearbox again as its leaking again.
Ordered poly-bush kit for subframe as its off at the mo seems as good a time as any to do it and forget about it.

Boot floor now welded both sides.
Front Sub frame refixed with poly bushes. Tank going back in on Friday. Old near side head lamp and inner valance stripped out ready to go.
Looks like going to need to weld in a repair panel along the bottom of the rear quarter to boot floor seem as that is becoming crumbly.
Replaced gasket on gearbox sump again and used some jonting this time hopefully oil leak cured this time.
Front Sub frame refixed with poly bushes. Tank going back in on Friday. Old near side head lamp and inner valance stripped out ready to go.

Hi Alun, Thanks but I had spotted it but it looked a little tired and deteriorated, would have liked a newer one. I emailed Rimmers to ask if a Herald or Vitesse one was compatible but they sent an image of one they said I 'might want to try'.
