Cross drilled crank

#1 Post by mikew »

Can some one tell me if all Sprint cranks were cross drilled ?

I have finalled stripped the water seized engine I bought and reclaimed the parts I wanted - water pump, jackshaft and a few other items, and found the crank is cross drilled - I wondered if they stopped cross drilling (like on the early 2.5 6 pots) later in production - the crank is good at -10 and wondered if it was worth keeping.

If the jackshaft has no play in the block then I'd keep the block too.

The block will need a 40 thou over bore and I'm not too keen on that - doesn't leave much meat in the firerings, but I get you point, could always liner it

If you can find good 40 thou pistons I'd go for it. You can always ask the guy who makes head gaskets to do you
one to match.

I've run +40s on my modified sprint and I've not had any problems.
