Fitting B-Post trims...
Hello there...
Being sidetracked is one of my worst failings! I have a glorious Toledo that needs this, that and the other doing to it but I'd rather look at things that it probably does not need...!!!
This leads me to where I'm heading... I like the look of the chrome B-Pilar trims that are fitted to higher spec' Dolomites and I thought of adding some to my Toledo.
How do these fit on? Are they screwed on and if so are they easy to fit? If they are screwed on I may leave them as I don't want to drill in to my shell really...!!!
I probably should be thinking of the important stuff but $od it, I may well just add a bit of Canley trinketry and do the important stuff afterwards...!!!

Ash, they are pop riveted on. If you get some you will need to drill the holes for the rivets.

You could use double sided trim tape, the kind thats used on number plates on modern cars if you dont want to drill holes. Should be plenty strong enough.

If you do decide to fit them, be careful as they are handed and the differences are subtle, you can fit either one to a pillar and think that it fits but the top and bottom edge have a slight angle to them for the roof line etc.

Are they not marked in any way at all... I'd have thought that they'd be a small 'LH' or 'RH' mark on the back of them...?!?!?! That'd be too easy though right...?!
Has anyone got a scan of the fitting instructions from the Triumph BL 'bible' at all...?! I am quite keen to add these to add a subtle bit of 'shine' to my Toledo...
Tomorrow is the day to bring it back to life so if all goes well I'm hoping to get MEL well and truly back from the brink...

One other thing though...! When would the b-pillars be drilled?! Did they have a jig to do it?! I can only imagine that the b-pillars were drilled when the b-pillars trims were placed on the b-pillars themselves...?! It'd be interesting to know how they were actually fitted at the factory...
How on Earth did they know which ones to fit on which side if they weren't marked...?!?!?!

I reckon they just offered the trims up to the pillar and drilled through the trim holes. When I've replaced these trims with trims from another car (because the trims weren't up to scratch), the holes haven't lined up. So I had to redrill the pillars as above.

That sounds about right...!!!
It is interesting to see that the RH and LH b-pillar trims have different part numbers yet they have no marking on them to let people know which is which...!

I've thrown caution to the wind (it is the near year after all...!!!) and purchased a pair of b-pillar trims to add to my Toledo...
Has anyone got any detailed pic's of these in situ as well as the b-pillars with their holes in...
Also, what size holes do I need to drill and what type of pop-rivets do I need to use...?! I want to try my best to get this right(ish)...!!!

Forgot to say, I took the trims off XJX at the weekend but there definitely weren't any part nos. on them. Someone had lightly scratched D/side & P/side inside (although I don't know why you would need to mark both lol). I'm off to the garage now and will report back with some dims. later.

1/8" dia. x 1/2" long ali rivets will do you. 3.5mm. hole in the 'B'/'C' posts.
