Time moves on but not so quickly for my Sprint. As some may have noticed, I have had one or two issues, which hopefully are on the road to being resolved, but I can now go back to thinking about what to do with the suspension.
In the end I obtained a full set of s/h AVO fully adjustable shocks which have spring seats for std diameter springs and no top mounts though I will have the originals when the old shocks are removed. Does anyone know what I will need, if anything, in addition to the springs and seats?
As I want to use the car on Classic Road rallies I am looking at getting some a bit stiffer. I am aware that I don't want to go too stiff as the principle use will be fast road and farmyard autotests, not race circuit trackdays, so I want a bit of give to help traction.
Any recommendations regarding spring rates and length (9" has been suggested) from anyone with a similar set up and similar use? I don't want it lowered really, just a bit at the rear.

I reckon about 180 lb in is right for stiffer rear end.
I had some orange ones that were one inch lowered on a Sprint I broke due to terminal rot and it was one of the best ride
handling setups Ive had on a Sprint.

Group 1 Rally settings appear to be 189 lb Front and 182 lb Rear which seems near enough.
AVO springs are available in 2.5" and 2.25" diameter in different poundage and lengths. Apart from the obvious, what is the difference between the two springs in terms of performance or fitting? There is a difference in the price!

It just has to fit in the top mount and on the shock pan.

After a bit of thought and speaking to one or two people I am now thinking I will stick to std size springs, but uprated. The AVOs will allow some tweaking of the ride height but I don't need anything too solid, just uprated. Rimmers do heavy duty springs as well as 175lb springs. Does anyone know what rate the heavy duty ones will be?

I have uprated standard height springs from sprint spares, there 175lb on the front and 170lb on the back which was a nice upgrade from standard and not too harsh on the road (as opposed to the standard springs which are about 145/155lb I believe), I’m sure I read somewhere the rimmers uprated standard height springs are 175lb for front and back which is the same as the lowered ones, why not give them a ring and ask?
