I bought a NOS starter motor off Ebay for my 1300 but the hole centers are only 4.5 inches and i think I read that they should be 5 inches?
if this is the case I may swap the end plate, assuming all other aspects are correct.
many thanks
Malcolm

Re: Dolomite 1300 Starter Motor; hole centers.
Hi I did a bit of work refurbishing 2 M35J starter motors. One off my Dolly and one that I bought off eBay to have as a spare. I have posted how I refurbished them on this forum.
I did not realise up until now that the holes on the pinion side plate were differently spaced. I have measured them and the original one is 5 inches and the one I bought off eBay is 4 and a half. What a difference a half inch makes.
Here is the links to the entries that i made on the forum and also info on a video on how to refurbish these motors. You will need an armature spring compressor to make removal of the assembly easier. Please let me know how you get on.
