Hey all,
So I'm replacing my fuel lines as they're old and dried out. I'm done to the fuel pump, but now I have a question. The fuel pump outlet is 5/16, but the HS6 inlets are 1/4, what's the best way to connect the two sizes? Should I simply use a reducer barb and then T off the two fuel lines or should I use a 5/16 T and then reduce the size before each carb with a reducer each? Originally the 5/16 hose was double clamped to the 1/4 metal fuel line going to each carb, but that didn't seem like the best solution even though the car has been running for years with it. Any thoughts? What is your setup between the fuel pump and carbs? Thanks guys.

Re: Fuel line size questions
I believe that the pipe on the carbs is 1/4 inch I.D which stretched over the 5/16th fuel pipe, it is only 1.6 mm or 60 thou differance, maybe warm the rubber up before fitting.

Re: Fuel line size questions
The OE spec fuel rail is 5/16 in from the pump to two x 1/4 at each carb.
No need to double clamp.....if its right it just works.

Okay,.....
Doesn't the carburrettor metal pipework have an enlarged end (5/16") on its inlet, the outlets being 1/4"?WhatTheFisaMOT? wrote:Originally the 5/16 hose was double clamped to the 1/4 metal fuel line going to each carb, but that didn't seem like the best solution even though the car has been running for years with it. Double clamping fuel hose is good practice but probably unnecessary on carburrettored cars given the low pressure.
