Rear Brake Cylinders.

#1 Post by Phil Huskinson »

Help Please.
I have a Dolomite 1850 HL 1980 model. Rimmer's have listed 2 rear brake cylinders part no. GWC 1502..... and GWC 1121 also says 5/8 inch.

My Comm number is WF 83840 H . Is the correct part GWC 1121. the same for a Sprint I think. Has anyone out there fitted cylinders on a 1980 model. Would appreciate help.

Hi Phil,

Can't help I'm afraid, but I would suggest posting this on the main forum.

Phil, as long as it is a matching pair you can use either, however, if it was up to me
I would use the earlier GWC1502 because these are a smaller bore, which will give a better brake pedal feel.

Dont you have to use the smaller bore with the dual circuit master?

I also believe that you have to use the smaller diameter brake cylinders with the dual brake system.

Yes, I can confirm that you must use the smaller diameter with the dual circuit system. Otherwise if you lose the front system, the rear doesn't stop you.

I understand the larger bore was fitted to single circuit systems, but was changed with the introduction of the dual circuit braking system. 1850 will be the same as the Sprint.
