BMW's are now driven by nice people. I really don't want an Audi.

Around West Yorks Audis, Golfs and the odd hired Merc are the preferred choice of the boy racer/ idiot driver of affluence with illegal dirt bikes, quads and scooters by the less affluent. In parts of Bradford racing around in Golfs and Audis is seen daily and is very frightening at times and illegal bikers are a nightmare with more of them, some going out in large gangs. I have had in the last two months near misses with two Audis and three Golfs who were racing. Last week a dirt bike came round a blind bend on my side of the road, no helmet etc. followed by a police car. Nasty smell in my car!!! Two minutes after another came straight out of a junction missed him by about three feet. We have a dedicated police team in the district to catch them and these two were trying to evade them.

A few weeks ago driving the same car I was hit by a legal biker on my side of a blind bend. He was the last of a group of four all giving it wellie, the first three just missed me. Guess what, they were un marked police on a fast response training exercise. The excuse, they were straightening out the bend.

Unfortunately, the city also has one of the highest numbers of uninsured drivers hence the high insurance premiums charged. I'm glad I live in Halifax these days. We have idiots haring up and down the local roads despite the 20mph speed limit that's supposed to be in force.

What a wonderful, self perpetuating situation, they have accidents involving uninsured drivers, so they put the premiums up, then even less people can afford insurance, so the number of uninsured accidents goes up and they put the premiums up - and so on ad infinitum!!!

Though Audis have somewhat taken over the mantle of "car of choice of ignorant and unmannerly pillocks", there are still plenty of diehard Beamer drivers around here who don't want to surrender their title! I guess change comes slower in rural areas! We also have competition to the Audi and Beamer merchants from the old 4x4 brigade who all KNOW they own the road, ancient Shogun/Pajeros being a particular favourite.

Yes Audi's and Merc's give me the most trouble down here in Hants.
You were lucky to only be clipped by the crazy police riders who of course know it all
Down here by the police riders own admission they were riding at 109 mph in a 50 limit and one of them hit a car and was badly injured, of course the rest was sure to follow, the motorist he hit was fined heavily  No surprise really and I would bet they were going faster than 109 too as it seems the plod are no strangers to a lie or two.
