Steering rack replacement for sprint
Steering rack replacement for sprint
My rack needs replacement and I am wondering about the quick rack option. My use is purely round town and I wonder about the suitability of this option . I have a smaller wood steering wheel. Regards kc

Depends how strong you are I guess
smaller wheel + quick rack = mucho effort to turn.

Have a look in the resto section and check out James467's rack repair. He goes through it in detail.
I think you may have trouble sourcing the bits for a quicker rack in Queensland, but the repair process is well documented.
I tend to think if you have a smaller wheel you may well find a quicker rack a bit heavy....

Thanks Jonners, here you go Keith, about 1/2 way down the page. viewtopic.php?f=19&t=27969&start=195
It's a pretty simple process and all parts should be readily available, the only difficult thing is getting the bush out, you'll need a 16mm socket and long bar for this. I would recommend the polybush cups, though. They are available from Chris Witor.
Speak to Mark at Jigsaw racing about the pinion, feel free to tell him that James Shephard recommends him!

Be an expensive call though as Keith is IIRC somewhere near Brisbane...
