Thermostat cover setscrew torque settings?

Looking through the ROM torque setting pages for the thermostat housing bolts, I don't seem to be able to find them.

I'm assuming for the moment it's 20 lbf ft, 2.8 kgf m, 27 Nm, like most of the other 5/16ths UNCs round about. But does anyone have a manual that gives those, or a better guess?

The 16v Slant 4 engine is more fun than the 3.5 V8, because you mostly drive it on the upslope of the torque curve.

Factory 1977 TR7 Sprint FHC VVC 697S (Now all of, but still needs putting together)

There are torque settings in the Sprint repair manual, I believe (Dave)Toledo man has a link to download on his post.

I went with Mr. Haynes' lower "Water transfer housing to cylinder head" figures of 20Nm as there isn't one listed for the thermostat cover in either his or Triumph's Repair Operation Manual, probably under the category of tighten until it stops squirting you in the eye?!

That's exactly how tight they are at the moment!

Took me a while to realize, but the ROM I have (part number 545612 Issue 1) gives 20 lbf ft for the transfer housing setscrews, which is 27.11 Nm (2.77 Kg m * 9.81).

Anyone know if Triumph lowered that figure or if Haynes were doing something systematic?

20 lb ft is the standard torque setting for a half inch a/f 5/16 UNC thread into alloy.
