Sprint throttle return springs
Sprint throttle return springs
Hello,
Having successfully transformed my Sprint after rebuilding the carbs, I'm having all sorts of trouble trying to locate some "correct" throttle return springs.
2 of the 3 I have, have been stretched and bent up by previous owners.
They are 3.5" long, but the best I can find are 2.75" and although the 2.75" ones stretch to fit, they are then too stiff to drive comfortably.
I've searched Burlens, Rimmers, SU Midel, eBay, etc, etc; without luck.
I'm looking for either good used or new. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
Cheers,
Rob

Re: Sprint throttle return springs
Thanks for that, but they aren't the same.
The pic shows an original 3.5" Sprint spring (the only good one I have) and the shiny one that the vendors sell. I have a set of 3 of those and all they do is make the accelerator pedal really hard.
I could make up some sort of lengthening loop for them to hook into. A small key-ring perhaps. But I'd like the right springs if I can get them.
Once again, Thanks.
Cheers,
Rob

Re: Sprint throttle return springs
Rob, I think you've got the 1850 springs. They look similar to the new ones I bought recently.

Yes, I'm pretty sure you're right.Toledo Man wrote:Rob, I think you've got the 1850 springs. They look similar to the new ones I bought recently.
Why they're not marketed as being for the Sprint too, is strange.
I know my Sprint is unchanged from factory and the springs are original.
Anyway, its all sorted now, thanks to this forum and the people who frequent it.
Cheers,
Rob
