It will probably stay turbo free as its my daily driver and has more than enough power now.

I said that about the Carledo, which currently has about 135bhp. Now the chassis and brakes are sorted, Gaz ASPs, poly bushes, Trackerjack conversion, Toyos, etc, I am thinking that a few more horses would not go amiss! I'm currently looking at the 220bhp Astra Turbo unit which will bolt up to my gearbox and mounts, that should stave off the power cravings for a bit! Just got to find one for the right money!

After a couple of very chilly icy mornings I decided to get the heater connected up. Had to order some 13mm heater hose and some inline adapters to take it up to 16mm pipe to fit the Mazda pipes. Connected it the heater up to the coolant system and now I'm toasty and warm.

After my headlights stopped working going down a country lane and having to stop rapidly and hope I'm not heading for the ditch due to bad connection in the fuse box I ordered a new one that uses blade fuses. So at lunch time tomorrow I will fit it to the car.

Odd that. The headlights - and the side lights are NOT wired via the fuse box.

Have a look at the wring diagram...

When I first got the car it had a few wiring problems so I separated some of the circuits into a second fuse box. Got a new fuse box for blade fuses so hopefully it will be more reliable than the glass fuses.

For the past couple of day my engine has nearly overheated and I've had to use the cabin heater as the cooling radiator. When I've run the car for a bit I'm still able to grab the top rad hose and not get burnt so today I ordered a new thermostat, which never turned up as well as parts for a customers car! On the way home the stat was behaving a little more but its still going in the bin when the new one arrives. Going to get on to parts suppliers in the morning as all the parts were supposed to be at the workshop by 1.

Better to remove the thermostat until the new one arrives.

Havnt been on here for a while so thought I would put an update on here. Over Christmas and new year year car has been running well. In all the rain we've had here in the south east my front footwells are wet so I need to investigate that. Also my tyres are cracking due to there age so what size would people suggest are the best to fit. It's got 175. 60r13 fitted at the moment.

175/70 is the standard Sprint size with 185/60 as a useable alternative - though it does make the wheels look small in the arches!
Are you still running the stock Dolly steelies?
I have a set of MGF Minilite pattern 15s for £100 if you're interested.

I've got sprint alloys on it and a set of steel wheels that came with the car as a spare set.

Fitted my new tyres last week. It's made such an improvement to the handling and ride comfort. The old tyres had gone so hard they didn't even change shape when off the rims.

Due to my sciatica playing up I havnt been able to do any work on the dolly for a while but I'm planning on getting it in the workshop this weekend to start sorting out all the little bits that can wait till another day. List is getting longer so need to start doing it. These things include. Sorting the blowing exhaust. Wiring in the 12v socket. Finding put why the speedo stopped working. Sorting squeaky steering column. Checking c02 sensor to if it's coked up as drinking more petrol. Fitting rear seat belts.
That's all I can remember off the top of my head but I'm sure there will be more once I start checking her over.
