I have been told that the type of fuel pump for an 1850 changed in 1978.
Does anybody know the difference?

Re: Fuel Pump
Slant pumps come in 2 flavours and are I think all are OE of the ac-delco type with the removable
filter bowl but crimped on cover which makes them difficult to repair.
The flavours are long and short arm. Long arms need a spacer. I have seen long and short armed types
on various Sprints 1850's and TR7's with no age correlation.
There are also a large number of cars that have acquired a QH pump with a serviceable diaphram (supposedly- try finding one). Ive only ever seen a short arm QH pump but that doesnt mean long arm ones dont exist.
It may well also be a few escaped the factory so fitted when industrial action caused supply problems.
QH made a lot of odd bits for our cars, including ball joints too.
