PCK911T MY STORY

After taking delivery of my dolly I noticed it had what I would call a medium sized oil leak. So today I thought I'd have a look too see where it was coming from. So spanners in hand I trot off to the the garage expecting to order a gasket of some kind. Started her up and waited and soon enough their it was coming from the water pump So I drain all the coolant and whip off the inlet manifold and discovered the connecting tube caked in gasket seal. Not a good start

I then remove the water pump cover and undone the impeller nut and you guessed it the nut came off with nothing else attached I read many was to get the water pump out and after a bit of trial and error and my mate turning up we used this

It's a pull start cradle off of a Honda engine (I didn't have a large washer)
After removing the impeller ( which on many occasions didn't have a father) I was a bit concerned about the condition of the pump shaft. Your opinions would be greatly appreciated

I had the dollywiki article with me on my tablet it was a great help. I've still got to get the brass basket out yet. The bearing seems to be in good shape so bit undecided wether to take it off the shaft. The oil seal was a different matter thou

Great...glad its a help....

Defo change the bearing. Also I'd change the bush in the engine block. Can be a mare to get out but a tap
the right size or a small punch do the job.

Easiest way to the the bush out of the block is with a dowel sized to be a close fit inside it, wood will do and even insulation tape round it to get a good fit will hold long enough. Then a good blob of grease on the end of the dowel, stick it in de 'ole and give it a good whack. Hydraulic pressure does the rest.

Sorry forgot to take pics in all my excitement but it never rains but it pours, the rocker cover is leaking badly, so I took the cover off and no gasket just badly applied sealant. Does anyone know where to get new cover screws as the heads on mine are past their best. Also removed the spark plugs and they are quite sooty so I think she running a bit rich.

Sprint - get the rocker cover screws from xvivalve. 1850 - get the rocker cover screws, washers and gaskets from James Paddock, part numbers 147737, 147738 and 148090

In the first photo you can see the cylinder head port for the coolant to exit, said port's shape shows that this is a Sprint.

Totally second the hex headed internal bolts for the rocker cover. Really does mean you can get the gasket to seal
and stop the oil getting on the manifold...

Ok started to do a compression test this afternoon and on the third turn of the engine it came to an abrupt stop sounds like the starter motors jammed but after doing the water pump I'm a little concerned that I've done something wrong. The car was running fine until I started the test. Any suggestions would be greatly received. I haven't got a 38 mm socket so I can't turn the crank pulley yet

Plugs out and spanner on alternator pulley or push in top gear?
