Mixed DNA (Toledo & 1500)

#1 Post by Cov1500 »

Last year I acquired a 2 triumphs with the intention of doing both up (long story....). Situations change and now will only proceed with one project. Given that there were too many unknowns with the 1500 and that there was less scope for 'improvement' (not to mention less likely to enjoy using it), I have chosen to do the Toledo.

It does have a few issues however;

The doors are a bit manky (the 1500 has good doors).

The front panel has had some acident damage - an inch of filler on the center bar!!! Panel gap around the bonnet is not good. (the 1500 panel in this area appears good).

The bonnet is rusty around the catch (apart from some surface rust the 1500 bonnet is good)

Whilst the interior isn't bad, I don't like the front seats (from another make of car) or the way they are mounted (the 1500 interior, apart from the carpets isn't bad and is a little less plain).

The dash is incomplete and a bit 'basic' with dodgy wiring (I like the 1500 dash.....)

I feel a plan coming on.....

Is this the Toledo with the pop down front number plate for the cranking handle?

2 x wiring looms, 2 x wiring diagrams, 1 role of tape.

Objective: Make 1500 FWD dash & controls work on Toledo. What could possibly go wrong.......
