Headlamp relais conversion set type fit.

#1 Post by soe8m »

A relais conversion set/loom I would be able to sell for 100 euro. At the moment that is 79 gbp but i would not know after the Brexit.

The set includes:

- a complete new front loom from under the battery to the front of the car to lamps and horn with the original colour codes and wrapping and connectors.
- 2x new headlamp wires with connectors ready to fit.
- 2x new inner main beam wires with connectors ready to fit.
- new relay bases/sockets and relays.
- loose terminals to crimp on the original loom.
- installation manual.

Optional you can have wires in it for spot/fog/electric fan incl. relays base and relais. This would be 15 euro per option. The labour is the same but it adds extra relays, sockets, connectors and a few wires. These options go in the new loom so no extra loose wires for these extra's. The relay sockets go under de battery so no big visual changes for originality and the same routing as original. Only an extra ground wire what goes on the radiator mount or at the original battery ground bolt.

This is for the slant twin headlamp. The 1500/1300 i did not check yet but will be slightly cheaper because of less parts needed.

If anyone would like to buy a set you can reply, pm or visit http://www.classickabelboomcompany.com/Contact/

It is in Dutch but i guess that would not be a problem.

If Brexit does happen will it revert to being consistently called a relay?

Here you go. This is the basic version. Only main and dim light relays. The take off is at the original connector block on the starter cable. The ground is behind the battery cable ground on the chassis. No extra wires on the battery. Almost not visible modification because the relays are under the battery. The first five were lucky. The next ones are +20 euro. The relays are included also the terminals and connectors needed for fitment. No need for extra parts.

Looking good. But I thought the head light connection onto the main loom was via bullet connections. Only the side light/ indicators where on a 3way plug/socket. May be wrong as its been a while since I did mine.

Never did see bullets on the front loom. My oldest sprint is from 1973 and this one has also plastic connectors.

Loom arrived today, fitted it tonight.
Brilliant!
Unfortunately it's too late. I reckon my stalk burned out this afternoon.
I think Jeroen is on holiday (must be August!).

My December 73 built Toledo came with bullet connectors on headlamp, sidelamp, indicator, wiper motor, and heater fan motor (and one or two other spots in the loom) but i've not seen them on more upmarket models. It gave me a bit of grief as I used an '80 Sprint front-and-dash loom as the base car wiring on the Vaux conversion to put connections on the o/s of the engine bay, then found the loom didn't match all my ancillaries, bit of a DOH moment! But I got round it - eventually!

Only Stromberg dollies had the earlier loom with grey rubber connectors and the bullets for the headlights etc....

All Sprints came with peripheral vision clocks so have the later type which Jeroen's bits will work with.

If your dolly has later clocks and SU's this will be fine for you....so after mid 73 build...

How about a club bulk buy for stock of say 10 sets a time to avoid the dutch postage charge?

This would only be incurred once...and spread evenly across all purchases. They would soon sell.....

Ever the cheapskate.
