My New Classic Sprint

Hello fellow Triumph Dolomite members
I am new to this board today as I have purchased my first Dolomite Sprint since I last owned one in 1987..
A mid-life crisis has led me to own a fully restored Brian Kitley Sprint reg UFH 888S
She was restored 9 years ago but has the usual oil leaks
She is beautiful!
I look forward to hearing of any events, rallies etc
I reside in Northamptonshire and would like to meet any Dolomite enthusiasts

Welcome to the forum Mick!
Hope you enjoy your new Sprint. I got my current Dolly last autumn, having had one as my first car until 1984. They do get 'under the skin' don't they?
I'm sure we would all like to see some pictures too!

I am currently downloading pictures to put on this thread, fingers crossed!!
These cars do tend to get under ones skin, agreed, I had three previous Sprints!

Thanks all, must be the imac, tried for two hours, giving it up for now, perhaps its software or old age!!
Never had problem with pc's before, copy and paste normally does it!!

You'll need to go to a hosting site like Photobucket. Cut and paste won't work here.

Tried photo bucket and have images but no success, followed instructions and with help from two teenage sons!!
When I hover over 'cog' there is not a 'share' option?
Very frustrating, thanks though for help

You can place a link to the photosite.

Not whitin the IMG things but just copy the photosite URL's.

I did copy and saw a nice red dolomite.

Found it really interesting that you bought your Sprint as a result of a mid life crisis and as a result of owning one in the eighties. Same thing happened to me. I'd owned a 1500HL and a Sprint in the eighties and when the bug returned I decided to go for a 1500 again; I thought the maintainance would be easier and in HL spec, the cabin is the same. By coincidence, mine is vermillion too.
That was 10 years ago and it's taken that long and £13000 to finish restoring it to A1 spec. It was really too far gone, when i got it.
If I knew what I know now, I think I'd have bought a car already restored and probably chosen an 1850. Others might disagree but I think it's got the most reliable engine. I'm hoping to put some pictures of mine in the magazine soon, having completed a respray as the last thing of all.
One thing I must mention is the help I've had through my club membership. That's ranged from useful advice - from people who have been there and done it - through to parts I wouldn't have sourced anywhere else. Special thanks there to xivalve and Toledo man.

Welcome to the forum Mick. Have you considered starting a thread in the "resto" section? Such a thread is handy for documenting the work you have done on your Dolly and for sharing it with the rest of us. Don't forget to join the Club. It is worth every penny of the membership fee.

I had decided to purchase a sprint, cheating I know with previous restoration work carried out.
Many a time I had lost out at auctions or failing to act quick enough due to work commitments.
However after three years of perseverance I stumbled across this one and am i happy :).
She was rebuilt and restored by Brian Kitley 9 years ago which helped in my decision but on parting with
the monies the previous owner informed me that he purchased this car from Brian Kitley himself.
The story has it that Brian had built this sprint for his wife?
Perhaps someone on this forum can enlighten me further on this or maybe know some more history on UFH 888S.
There is some work to be done though as she leaks gear and engine oil plus I noticed the expansion tank was empty?
Levels were restored though before her 140 mile journey from Frome to Northampton and she drove like a dream.
I am looking for a mechanic whom has experience on Triumphs maybe not too far from this area?
Any advice I am more than willing to receive and I will be paying my subscription to the club today.
Looking forward to meeting in September
