I need to finish the MG before restarting the Sprint.

Well that's what 'she who controls the money' has said.

Trouble is to do that the Sprint shell needs to come out of the garage for a month or two.

Any ideas on how to store it without causing too much damage? I was just thinking of spraying the whole thing in liquid wax then putting it under a tarp tied down tight. I'm not worried about the paint as it's going to be stripped off anyway.

Storm Force cover I would say...

Its 3 layer and my Stag paint doesnt seem to have suffered too much under its one. They last about 3 years....
then the top surface starts to crack up.

My Stormforce lasted about 18 months before I chucked it out. Waste of money. It'll do you for a few months though.

It only needs to last until the spring when the MG goes up for sale.

Leave the Sprint in the garage, and put a marquee outside of the garage for the MG.

A sort of garage extension,.

My reasoning, your Sprint shell is probably worth more to you than insurace money.

The MG, I best not upset anyone.

It's a Frontline K Midget, I'm afraid they are both worth about the same!

Edit: I'm not allowed a garage extension and the barn is full! The car will be safe, trust me. You have to see the house to understand!

I have a tybond cover - had it 3 years then it fell apart.

It on all the time whether the cars outdoors or indoors (in the garage) keep prying eyes at bay as the garage has windows.

I'm not really a fan of outdoor covers as they do tend to trap the moisture. That said in the winter time a car will not really dry out very much anyway cover or no cover. They are good though for keeping your car out of view. I covered my donor car for about 3 years with a cover (can't remember what). It blew off a lot, I tied it down with bungee cords, it blew off again, got caught on my TV aerial 20ft up the side of the house. I got it down again, tied it down even more and eventually it fell apart.

The condition of the car afterwards considering all of this actually wasn't that bad. A few wear marks on the paint, a few blisters which were probably there anyway and not even the sunroof leaked.

Thanks everyone, this is what the shell looks like, but with a bonnet and bootlid, no wheels and sitting on a pallet!



I just want something to stop the inside getting filled up with water when it rains.

Keeping it out of sight really isn't too much of a problem, it's behind 8ft gates and the Land Rover so I think if you have the ability to move 2.7 tonnes worth of Discovery you're probably going to take that over a dodgy Dolomite shell!

I'd steal that over a disco every time....

Storm force cover would be ideal for the job. Why not rest in the front and rear screens to give the cover some support and stop it flapping as much.

What you need is a shrink wrap bag - like you see new cars begin transported in when there on the back of car transporters

Paul, I'll use that for transporting to shows when she's on the road again!

I don't want to spend £150 on a stormforce cover so I have just sprayed anywhere that may rust with a good dose of spray wax and covered her with a tarp tied down tight.

Oh and good idea Jonners, I put the windows in to prevent any pooling.

I expect that when it gets windy it may move but at least she's protected from the worst of the weather.





I'll pull it off every month or so just to let everything ventilate.
