Can anyone give me a steer on paint colours for a sprint engine circa 1978. I believe the rocker cover was black (presume aluminium), pump housing blue and main block silver? Paint numbers would be great if possible.
Also, can anyone give me a reference for a black used by Triumph? Guess it comes under Rover now?
Many thanks
Terry

Re: Paint Colours
Only ever seen Black Engine Blocks and non-painted pump housings. Heads are unpainted.
'Ken and Lynn' can supply engine enamel paints in the right colour, though to a certain extent Black is Black. Search for Ken and Lynn paints and you'll find them.

Re: Paint Colours
Triumph external paint colour code for the official shade of Black is 11
This colour was only ever available as a cost option - except on the 1500SE Dolomite, where it was mandatory.
As said above Sprint engines came with Steel parts painted black and alloy parts left in "natural" finish with the exception of the valve cover which was also Black
Where engine enamels are concerned, Black is just that, Black!

Re: Paint Colours
Wouldn't the air filter box have been grey in 1978?
Don't know which shade of grey, and I'm told, even by the wife, that there are a lot. I can't rememeber how many she said there were though.

The 16v Slant 4 engine is more fun than the 3.5 V8, because you mostly drive it on the upslope of the torque curve.

You'll find BMC Dove Grey is a very good match and easy to obtain in an aerosol.
