Interesting weekend. Bad misfire during practice so pulled off before end of second lap. Traced this back to the rev limiter, disconnecting it seemed to cure the problem completely. Having not set a time I was on the last row of the grid (position 33) where it is almost impossible to see the start lights. Managed to get up to 18th by the end, chasing a Merc Cosworth.

The first handicap on the Sunday was going well until a stalled Porsche on turn 1 brought out the safety car, the worst thing that can happen in a handicap race as all the cars usually bunch up. As I was in fifth I wasn't pleased. However the safety car was only out for one lap and that caught out the cars behind, when I and the cars in front of me accelerated away i looked in my mirror to see the next car at least 200 metres behind. With only one lap to go, I managed to move up to fourth without being caught by the pack!
The final handicap in the afternoon just went perfectly, a good start and of the two of us let go at the same time, I was first into turn one. (look in my mirror in the video on the first lap). Then I was just in the right place when it came to overtaking all the cars in front and managed to keep enough pace up to cross the line in first place, just 2.7 seconds ahead of a MGB GT V8 with an Alfa 75, Alfasud TI and Capri Perana (V8) all within another 1.5 seconds. I beat my best time at Taupo by two hundredth of a second into the bargain. Best lap now 1:55.789 and avg speed of 103.22kph.

A great weekend to cap off the 2nd and 3rd places in handicaps at the last meeting at Hampton Downs in December.

Nice smooth drive and a cracking outcome on the 3rd, they really were ALL in the right place at the right time!
