Re: High Torque Starter for Sprint
I have the Rimmer's Powerlite One since 2007. A really good starter, but sometime it block the pinion between flywheel gear as can happen with the original one (Like: "CLAK CLAK CLAK").

Re: High Torque Starter for Sprint
The powerlite does not have the bias bypass connection. Gave me terrible problems with hot starting. I eventually reverted back to original.

Re: High Torque Starter for Sprint
The brand I bought in 2010 was a 'Road-Runner' http://roadrunner-starters.com/ , model RS205D and they asked if I wanted the other connector for the ignition which was fitted.
It has been a fit and forget item, not a single issue although space/access demanded I used cap screws instead of bolts.
No idea if they are available in the UK though. Got mine from a distributor in NZ.
Hope that is of some help

Re: High Torque Starter for Sprint
The ones sold here are crap. Ofcourse when you fit one here as a replacement for a faulty original one you are happy again that you can start your dolomite. For the occasional trips with your classic they are fine but for daily use in normal daily conditions they fail. Had two broken within sort time both because of a bad quality. The Denso is a very good starter and does last more than 400.000km but when converted to Hight Torque for classic cars the most cheap parts go in at the overhaul and then it's not a Denso anymore but a buch of cheap parts in a Denso housing.
I think when you go to a scrapyard and buy an old Denso starter from 15-20 years old and ONLY CONVERT and NOT OVERHAUL you have a better starter than a new High Torque.
After my starter dramas I use a converted original new Bosch now and never an issue again.

Re: High Torque Starter for Sprint
I have the Powerlite RAC406 on mine and it spins the engine over very nicely. I run with electronic ignition on 12v feed so don't use the ballast circuit. I didn't buy it from Rimmers but I found it on a motorsport dealers site, check out Peter Lloyd Rallying £148.33.
