A couple of surgeries on my back in the last month have brought me to the realisation that I need to give up. However, 17 years and 105 race meetings isn't a bad run. Time to concentrate on the road cars!

Car is actually going better than ever before, reshell in 2010 and effectively a new engine in 2013.

Will let you know how it goes. Geoff

I watched the first 7 minutes of the video, good stuff. The white car with the red bonnet occasionally appears in the rear view mirror, and the hunting down of the red Alfa was good, they seemed to take a strange approach to corners!

Good luck with the sale.

Now asking NZ$20,000. I've been told it could be landed at UK port for another NZ$4000. At current exchange rates that makes it about UKP13,000. Not sure whether it attracts any VAT or other duties, given it is coming up for 43 years old?

Six months on, 5000 views and no takers yet! One call but that was only about the spare shell. No doors so no sale.

If anyone overseas is interested in doing a deal, let me know.

Geoff

Well at last have said goodbye to the race car. It's new home is in the British Car Museum in Haumoana over in Hawkes Bay on the East Coast of the North Island. Ian Hope has over 450 British cars in his Museum and this is his first Sprint and also first race car. It joins an 1850, a 1500 FWD and a couple of Toledos.

At least I, or anyone else, can visit anytime. https://www.britishcarmuseum.co.nz/story.html

Interestingly on the very day I sold mine, the only other known Maple Sprint in NZ came on the market (in fact in any shade of brown). The contrast is remarkable as this 2 owner, current for 33 years has only covered 55000km and looks to be in remarkable condition. Mine on the other hand even when I bought it as a road car in Oct 2000 had got though 8 or 9 owners and covered 186000 km. Wasn't in the best of condition either, other than as is common in NZ there was no rust!

A photo of mine as it was about to be loaded on the transporter followed by the immaculate two owner car for sale (in case the listing disappears)

That had me checking the exchange rates!

A shame your car is becoming dormant though, but perhaps a fitting destination...

Under £11k* for a rust free low mileage mint Sprint, might interest someone?

(Roughly factored from current exchange rate, $4NZD for shipping, 5% duty plus registration costs)
