1500HL O/D conversion
Thinking about converting a 1500HL to a overdrive box, anyone on here attempted this before? Or is there a 5speed box which would fit?

Yes its not hard to do if you can get all the bits. The crucial one is the cross member and mounting, then the more obvious
stuff like stick, loom etc etc.
Spit 1500 box is the same. My personal feeling is a Spit 1500 would make much better use of it too...
You can also pay more than the car is worth for a ford type 9 conversion

Note from Admin: sadly Jon passed away in February 2018 but his humour and wealth of knowledge will be fondly remembered by all. RIP Jonners.

I produced an article that was included in Dolly Mixture a number of years ago on this and if you use the search function (top right of forum) you will find the info you need. Search for Dolomite 1500 manual to overdrive conversion.

I used Richard's club article to convert my 1500 to overdrive a few years ago and it was the best thing I ever did. Gave far more impact than - say - polybushing - for example. If you can source the parts, it's well worth it.
