Wow, you have to ask how the same formula can still be running (and popular) all these years later. I'm not expecting any shocks or format changes in the next series of The Grand Tour.

AND I thought it was Brooklands Green anyway! IIRC it was about a T plater, much too late for Emerald which was dropped from the colour charts in about 73.

A lot of nice colours disappeared from the Triumph range in 73, Royal and Wedgewood Blue, Emerald and Mallard (I know Mallard is supposed to be blue) Signal red and Damson, Slate Grey, Saffron Yellow and Sienna Brown. Nearly all of these had gone by the time you could get a Sprint in anything but Mimosa, though i've seen ALL the above colours, with the exception of Signal Red on early 1850s (The REAL Dolomite) I don't count Jeroen's Emerald Sprint, the export and CKD palette was always a bit different to the home market one.

Intermediate colours include Sapphire, Delft and French Blue, Brooklands Green (initially called BRG, which stayed to the end) Magenta, Mimosa, Honeysuckle, Pimento and Maple, These ran roughly from 73-76.

Only 2 colours spanned the entire Sprint period, those being Carmine and White (19) plus the rare cost option of Black.

VA5123DL, a '74 car first registered in NZ on 19 Sept '75 was Emerald with black interior. Unfortunately destroyed on the race track in 2001. I do have the two rear doors and boot lid hanging up in the barn as spares. Lovely colour.

I have seen only one, it was M reg, the late Brian Kitley used it on a Club Triumph RBRR (in 2000 or 2002 I think).

It was sold to someone who did use this forum, Tin Ganting?
Turned it was a resell into an Emerald 1850, he found an incriminating photo both the two Emerald cars side by side.
(I did a quick search but can't seem to find that thread I'm afraid, some of his posts were, how I shall I put it, lively ).

I think this one got broke up after the RBRR as i remember seeing the doors for sale with the stickers still on.

How long was Flamenco available? I understood that it was just 1977 (Jubilee Year).

Certainly the case on Spitfires, when I got the heritage cert for mine it turned out to be flamenco originally. I'd always assumed it was pimento or Vermillion.
It's currently Signal Red, which I knew wasn't original.

You missed Ice blue and Valencia blue!

I have never seen a Valencia blue Dolomite but this was a popular (common) colour for other models including the T1300 and T2000.

Well they are if you compare them to the Sprint which only surfaced in non Mimosa towards the end of 73!

But Toledos and 1500FWDs were around from 1970 and the Dolomite from 71. And the 1300FWD from 66, so I call the mid 60s palette "early" with regard to the range as a whole!

I've just done a bit of checking in my parts lists and Emerald has already been withdrawn from the Toledo range by January 74 (when my Tolly list was first printed) but is still shown as a Sprint choice in my Sept 75 Sprint list. I realize that the parts list is not a reliable authority, also on the 75 Sprint list are Ice Blue, Mallard and Sienna Brown, all of which actually disappeared around the time the Sprint was becoming available in something besides Mimosa,though they are relatively common on early 1850s.

Have an emerald Sprint bootlid from a car I sadly had to break years ago as was just too far gone. Think it was on an M plate.
So there were a few. Supposedly mallard as well but I dont think Ive ever seen one in the flesh.
Mallard was pretty dreadul as a a paint though so unless garaged I doubt many survive.

Well time has flown by? 4 years was only the forum emails threatening excommunication reminded me to log in. While I was here thought I had better say something

Well time has passed and the Dolly is still in the corner of the garage, no better but thankfully no worse for it.

Life got in the way a bit, then this wonderful bug threw a spanner in the works like it has for many.

Will still be done but still not sure when.

Still undecided on the colour, taking it back to original is less appealing especially as I found out it started life as an automatic and was given a manual at the same time as the new engine. I also have a good (well it was) black interior from the 1850 we broke up back in the day so it gives me a bit of leeway with the colour.

Trying to work out what colour was on the '78 1850 we had, it was either pimento or vermillion, loved that colour on that car and trying to work out if it would have been available on a late '80 Sprint.

Probably drop in again in 4 years
