Would a 1975 Toledo have been supplied with a tool kit? My 2 previous owner and very original car has an unused jack and combined wheel brace and jack handle still in its cardboard BL box but no other tools. I am wondering if this was part of the BL policy of the day to cut costs or where they thinking about weight back then! If it should have a tool kit what would it have consisted of? :jack:

My 1974 Triumph Toledo, bought in May 1975, had just the jack & wheel nut removal tool cum hub-cap remover.

Thanks for the reply Nigel, that's interesting as it does appear that they were only supplied with the tools we both have. :jack:

Both my Toledo and my Sprint came with the jack, wheelbrace-cum-jackhandle and a little bar like an overgrown tin opener (Toledo only) which I guess is for removing hubcaps. All this neatly contained in a stiff black plastic envelope with a flap on one end secured by 2 poppers.
Cardboard box must be either a production economy, or possibly how replacement toolkits were sold (since my Sprint was sold with a bag 2 years AFTER Toledo production ended!

Well now that adds another dimension to the little mystery, maybe I should be looking for black plastic bag. This does make sense as I remember jack etc bieing in this type of thing in the cars I owned in the seventies.
Thanks for the reply. :jack: -or should it be jack in a bag!

Having a brainwave, I looked in my parts lists (Toledo, Jan 74 & Sprint, Sept 75)

The results are as follows:-

For Toledo,

1 x 716031 Tool roll.
1 x 216915 Jack.
1 x 156326 Jack handle.
1 x 101089 combined spark plug and wheel nut tube socket.
1 x 59427 combined socket bar and hubcap remover.
1 x 59426 AF Spanner double open end.
1 x 122745 AF spanner, double open end, 1/2" and 7/16".

For Sprint, the jack, jack handle, hubcap remover (!!!) and spanners are the same as Toledo, with the following additional parts:-

1 x 725793 Tool bag (this is the plastic bag I got with both my cars)
1 x 109762 wheel brace.
1 x 158939 deep spark plug tube socket.

There you go, a definitive list!

I can probably help you with a bag (725793) and I THINK I have a spare of the combined plug and wheel nut tube socket (101089)

Steve
