Some years later I'm on the same search for part 216901. I have no idea where the original is so I have little to go on. Helpfully the Toledo parts catalogue simply describe it merely as 'bolt'. I've read the entire thread through but there seems to be no solid conclusion. Ideas appreciated!

Do you have any you could measure? (even if they are in a grotty state)
Sounds like the thread is nothing special @ 3/8 unf - so it's a matter of getting the shank+thread length close - and whether or not the "slightly different head machining" is critical.
Sorry... not much more help than that at this stage!

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I'm not sure where the original is - I'm trying to finish off an unfinished restoration project which was disassembled 25 years ago. It might be in boxes here, but identifying it is another matter! If anyone reading this has one and could take a photo of it next to a ruler that would be very helpful.

Cheers

Isn't this the bolt with the part domed head to protect the rack gaiters from premature fatigue?

I think so having read back through this thread.

From your comment 11 years ago on page 2 of this thread I believe so! Any kind of photo especially with a ruler next to it would help me.

Thanks.

Why can't you use a normal hex head bolt and put a rounded bolt cap on it to protect the gaiter?

Sounds like a good plan if we can get the sizes and source bolts

Thanks for the suggestion. My problem is simply that I have no idea what the item looks like, so I don't know what I'm trying to achieve. All I have at the moment is the tiny diagram in the parts book and the description 'bolt' :)

Thank you for all the replies. By some major miracle it looks like I've found some serviceable items in the spares stash. So I appear to be sorted for now, and at least I can document what they look like for the next person with this problem.
