Ponderings on springs.

I spent bit of time with a friend earlier this week.
He is involved in importing springs etc for modern cars. He has mentioned that the stuff he gets is hot wound, which is unusual as most are cold-wound. Probably as it is cheaper. But I wonder if that is at least partially responsible? Just a thought.
