"National Motoring Heritage Day", down-under

I thought you folk might be interested in seeing a little bit of the Australian historic motoring scene......
The 3rd Sunday of May each year is Australia's "National Motoring Heritage Day". Which means that Historically registered vehicles have the freedom to be driven anywhere without the need for a club sanctioned event. On this day each year, a neighbouring club puts on a big event at Berry, a lovely little coastal town, 2.5hrs north from here and about 2 hours south of Sydney.
2 weeks ago I drove my old Mk1 Zephyr up there and had a fantastic time. Purdey held her head up high amongst some pretty awesome machinery, some of which I've shown in a slide show on my Clubs (MATAMA) website. Its on again, this Sunday and I scratch my head sometimes, wondering where 12 months went.

This year I'll be taking our Sprint the 170kms to the show. Usually, there are quite a few Triumphs on show, but our Sprint has been the only Dolly I've ever seen there. Which, given the few numbers that arrived into OZ, doesn't surprise me.

In the past few days I've been taking Daisy on short runs, hoping to prompt any problems to arise before we leave. I'm very happy that the latest problem, a gearbox oil leak, has slowed right down to the point where the one small drip after parking, is called by another Triumph owning mate as, "oil tight".

Presently I'm having a spell from readying Daisy for the show and decided to spend that time writing this. Its hot out there, which is especially strange, considering its only 2 weeks from winter.

I'm looking forward to the event, as there is always such a broad selection of cars on show.

As promised....
The photos I've attached take up quite a bit of space, sorry.
You can see my Sprint parked with my mates 1950 Morris 6.
My favourite Triumph of the show was the white TR5...probably my favourite CAR of the show too.
The old Salmson is a race car we see regularly at historic race events and I was glad to see it here.
A repro of a Ford GT40, #6 in Gulf colours. About 20 yards away was an exact same car. Same colours, same number, same everything......common as dog muck, eh?
The brown-ish old ute is a good example of one of our early Holdens. They fetch a lot more $'s than they should.
The red sports car is a Bolwell. Australian designed and built with a 2.85 - 3.0 litre Holden engine.
The pink thing towing the little pink caravan, is a Holden Torana GTR-XU1. 3.3 litre 6's triple Stromberg carbs. Incredibly fast cars, raced out here a lot and still feature strongly in Historic racing. But pink?
