Front Bumper 1850 versus Sprint

Good morning,
I am looking at replacing my sprint front bumper as rechroming costs are eye watering and the lovely Rimmer Bros list a NOS front bumper for an 1850 which whilst not cheap is significantly less than the re chroming cost.
However they say it it doesn`t fit a sprint.
Does anyone know if there is any significant difference? Will an 1850 one fit?

I think the difference is in the method of attachment to the bumper irons, one is concealed and the other isn't. Which means that the shape of the irons is slightly different. You can get away with it, as long as you swap the irons with the bumper, the end result will be the same.

Of course, getting early 1850 (Dolomite, in fact, pre 1850 badging) bumper irons might be quite a task! Which is why Rimmers are selling the bumpers cheap!

Thanks for that, now I understand the price - looks like I will have to stretch my arms to reach the bottom of my pocket! and go for the re-chrome.

You can easily convert the early type to fit later cars. Ive done it and it can be done without damaging the chrome. You need to cut / grind off the internal brackets then drill and file the 4 mounting holes so it fits the existing bumper irons.

If you do decide to rechrome your existing bumper though, try Walkinshaws of Coventry. They did an excellent job for me at a sensible price and it was done in a week.
