As some of you are aware my old V8 Sprint is back in my possession.
It will be getting a 2007 Mazda RX-8 13B Rotary engine.

I’ll post updates as and when.

Currently having a bit of rust repair done.

There is a Mazda rotary powered Toledo drift car in New Zealand I think. I've seen a youtube film of it drifting around, seems absolutely awesome! Can't wait to see how this one turns out!

There’s quite a few Rotary powered cars in New Zealand and Australia.
They tend to use the earlier RX7 engine as it’s less restricted in standard form than the later RX8 that I have.
Note should of got the earlier engine.
And they love a Big Turbo out there.

Found the YouTube Link
That’s the earlier 12a engine which is smaller.

Well today stripped off the accessories of the 13B

Dangled in the engine bay where a V8 use to live many years ago.

Sits in well but still to high for my liking.

Drastic action may result. But I’ll get it sitting right.

I’ve picked up a spare engine
So that will get Ported and rebuilt ready.
When the final fitting gets under way,

Having problems with DVLA

Because I marked the green slip as export all those years ago
They are now saying I have to re registered the Sprint.
Despite letter from previous owner confirming it never left the UK.
If I don’t get the original reg back.
I’ll still be displaying the PRO plate at shows.

More work in the Sprint tomorrow.

A couple of years ago I "re-imported" a Peugeot 106. It was on Southern Irish plates. The DVLA simply re-issued the original registration. They said as long as they have not reissued the original reg. it will be reallocated to the car if it is re-registered in the UK. It has to be issued with an age related plate anyway. So you should be OK. Can't remeber what form I had to fill in, also seem to remember that they wanted me to get it MoT'd first, the MoT station had to use the VIN as the ID and not the Irish reg no.

Slowly getting somewhere with DVLA HMRC

They have agreed to register the Sprint with the PRO plate.
But needs to be MOT first
To show its roadworthy..

Best get my skates on and finish her. :bluewave:

Haven’t done much recently as work has been quite busy.

Engine mountings are in progress of being made
Done the plate that mounts to the engine for the near side.
Not happy with the one for the offside.
So having a plate laser cut for the offside.
Sorted out a RX8 gearbox conversion crossmember
Which should save me bit of time making one from scratch.

Onwards and upwards as they say.

Not much off a update really.

Measured up the prop length today.
As the Engine and Gearbox are in there final positions.

Ordered up some Exhaust bends and pipe for the manifold.

Damm RX8 Carbon prop is about 50mm too long.

Short update.

Propshaft done.
Completely all new Ends, greaseable UJs and Steel tube.
Rx8 gearbox to Sprint diff.

Modified oil pump from the good old USA.
And found a company in the UK to regrind the Rotor Housing.
For the tweaked engine that’s going in later.
