Halogen headlamp conversion

#1 Post by Aldpilot »

Wanting to fit Halogens to my 1978 Sprint before taking part in this years RBRR, I have been searching our forum for info. I see someone suggests getting a conversion kit from “Jeroen username SOE8M” who provides a good kit with relays and fitting instructions. Is this still available as the last entry was May 2018?
Thanks in advance

Yes they are but what I lack at the moment is time.

The current waiting list at my company for "regular work" is 4-5 months and the Dolomite looms I always did inbetween/spare hours to keep them reasonable priced but those spare hours are long gone. Just at the moment this week I did finish one for a very patient Dolomite owner and am half way through a complete RHD Dolomite harness, repair and custom modification for the needs of that owner and hope this one to finish in the next two weeks. Then there's still a RHD 1500 HL halogen harness to start with but I set myself to finish those in short time now.

I also hoped to live in my project house for already two years but still not finished yet.......

You can order one but I can't tell when I can deliver. Not within 3 months. The above are waiting around 6 months now.

Hi Jeroen. The lead time is a bit long for me, so will give it a miss, but thanks for posting.

Its not a popular kit but i know Rimmers do a Halogen conversion with relays. There is sure to be some negative comments on it , i know i got them  But i have had it fitted to my car for a number of years and never had a problem with it. If you need a quick and easy fix it might be worth considering.

I've waited till the Grand Master, Jeroen has ruled himself out before offering, (not wanting to tread on anyones toes) but I have made a couple of Halogen relay looms for customers and could make another without too much difficulty and with a considerably shorter lead time, like around 3 weeks. My looms include relay/fuseholders and I add fuses in the modern style, ie 4 headlamp fuses for o/s dip, n/s dip, o/s main and n/s main respectively. I usually add a dip beam power takeoff from the dip relay to power rear foglights as a bonus. I can also add extra relays for starter, horn, electric fan etc to your specification. PM me for more details.

Or you could try James 467 of this forum, he's made a few too!

Thanks guys, but I have ordered parts and got them now, so will do the work myself. I should have logged on more regularly as I didn’t see the last few posts until after I had decided to crack on. Thanks for everyone’s input.
